Press Release: The Fort Bend Republican Newsletter

Michael Gibson February 27 2014

Republicans all across the county received a newsletter with information about our candidates, the upcoming primary election, voting sites and ads by the candidates.

To provide the voters publicly available information, we included a list of candidates in the county and their Primary Voting History and how long they have lived in the county.  A disclaimer was inadvertently omitted that should have accompanied the chart.  The disclaimer is as follows:
“The information presented is data acquired from Fort Bend County Elections.  This summarizes voting history in both the Primary and Primary run-off elections from 2004 through 2012.  As the data does not indicate if each individual was eligible to vote in the run-off election, any record of 8 of 10 or more should be considered a Perfect Voting Record.”

Furthermore, in checking with the Elections Administrator, the data presented was in error for some of the candidates.  “I am the final editor for the newsletter and accept full responsibility for the errors,” said Mike Gibson, Chairman of the Republican Party of Fort Bend County.  “The purpose in pulling this information together and reporting it to our voter base is to proactively provide publicly available information on our candidates so the voters can make an informed decision.  The data shows that all of our candidates that were eligible to vote in 2012 voted in the Republican Primary.”

The corrected information including the run-off data is attached in order to correct the record.

Thank You for a Successful Lincoln-Reagan Dinner

Michael Gibson January 13 2014

The 2014 Lincoln-Reagan Dinner was a great success. We sold out the venue, had both US Senators, our Congressman and the State Party Chairman speak and raised more than $30,000 in the Live Auction. The 700 attendees enjoyed visiting with Ted Cruz, John Cornyn, Pete Olson, Joan Huffman, Glenn Hegar, Rick Miller, Phil Stephensen, John Zerwas, Dan Patrick, Jerry Patterson, Barry Smitherman, Ken Paxton and many other elected officials and candidates.

Our award recipients for 2013 were Robert Gracia, volunteer of the year and Danielle Settles, Executive Committee member of the year. Join me in congratulating Robert and Danielle as recognition of their efforts in 2013 for the Republican Cause.

The evening went smoothly due to the efforts of our Events Committee and volunteers. Specifically, JoLynn Paschall, Kathy Luckenback, Edee Sinclair, Tina Gibson, Cassandra Barringer, Abby Sinclair and Mandi Bronsell worked to pull together our Live and Silent Auctions. Furthermore, a huge thank you to Allison Wen for the wonderful facility, staff and extras he provided.

We have started 2014 with a bang. Let’s carry this enthusiasm to Victory in November!
